Intermediate Remote Sensing, GIS and GPS Training for Forest Department

As a part of a capacity development initiative, a group of 15 professionals of CEGIS attended a 7-day residential training programme on ‘Natural Resources Management and other Environmental Issues’ which was held at the Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) at Hyderabad, India from 03-11 March 2014. The Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director (Development) of CEGIS also attended the programme as resource person and guest of honour. During the training, the participants attended 21 lectures on relevant aspects of natural resources management with an exposure to environmental accounting, waste management and environmental analysis, etc. A pool of expert trainers of public and private institutions as well as veteran lecturers of universities delivered lectures during the programme. At the conclusion of the training, certificates were awarded to the participants by Mr. A K Parida, IAS, Director General, EPTRI and Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, India. Engr. Md. Waji Ullah, Executive Director of CEGIS was also present in the ceremony. The training, the first of its kind, was sponsored by CEGIS with the aim of enhancing the professional competence of the participants which, in turn, will benefit CEGIS in achieving its desired goals in the future.
