Career Summary

Being graduated in Disaster Management from University of Dhaka, Silvee Afrin Moitry believes to have detailed knowledge about the disasters, hazards, ecology and biodiversity, geology, hydrology, meteorology and climatology of the earth and strategies and schemes to manage them conclusively. With the aim to shape herself as a development worker and enhance her ability to assist and support the people during emergency, she started to engage herself in different types of volunteering work during her graduation and post graduation. She had the privilege of working with some scholars and experts in the field of disaster management and becoming part of some of their research work. Taking her efficiency and interest of working in this field into consideration, she was selected for Training of Trainers (ToT) program, which focused on Disaster Management, First Aid, Fire and Search and Rescue by CIRDAP (Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and Pacific) which was held at RGNIYD (Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development) in Chennai, India. She had been an intern in MODMR (Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief) of Government of Bangladesh and gained first hand field level working experiences by exploring the projects of Social Safety Net of Government of Bangladesh and identifying the pitfalls. Her aim is to become an competent and complete disaster manager who is technically sound and can make exemplary contributions in the society through helping the most marginalized sector of population by building their capacities and removing their vulnerabilities.

Master of Disaster Management (MDM) with Cumulative Grade Point Average 3.68 (Placed 5th in class) from University of Dhaka; Bachelor of Disaster Management (BDM) with Cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.71 (Placed 3rd in class) from University of Dhaka.
