This Division is responsible for quality management of the various activities of CEGIS. It develops standard quality control procedures and guidelines for data extraction, processing and database management. It also ensures that international quality control standards are maintained in the EIA and SIA studies carried out by the Center.

Over the years, various new industries have emerged as a result of the country's economic growth. Pollution issuing from the operation of these different types of industries is causing degradation of the quality of air, water, soil and natural resources, which in turn is creating severe health hazards and loss of biodiversity. In order to take pragmatic measures to mitigate the pollution, strategic options for intervention need to be identified. These industries are scattered all over Bangladesh and there is a dearth of information about their locations, types, size and waste characterization. It was felt that a comprehensive survey on industries was needed, and therefore the Department of Environment (DoE) initiated a countrywide survey “Industrial Surveying and Mapping” in order to collect information and assess the state of compliance with existing national laws. DoE assigned CEGIS to conduct the survey along with the development of a database and a GIS based Management Information System (GMIS). The first phase of the project covered the greater Dhaka and Chittagong City Corporation area along with Bhaluka, Norshingdi Sadar and Sitakunda Upazilas. A total of 4,039 industrial units of green, orange and red categories were surveyed. The developed MIS will assist DoE officials and policy-makers to monitor industrial activities and identify their compliance with national guidelines and standards.
